John Fullam, former Principal Clarinetist of the Buffalo Philharmonic, was born in New York and studied at The Juilliard School, earning both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees as a scholarship student of Joseph Allard. He also holds a diploma from the Mozarteum and studied with distinguished teachers including Leon Russianoff, Anthony Gigliotti, and Harold Wright.

Mr. Fullam has appeared as principal clarinetist and soloist at major festivals including Tanglewood Music Festival, Marlboro Music Festival, and Saratoga Performing Arts Center, performing under conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa, and Eugene Ormandy. His career has included appearances at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, along with international engagements throughout Europe and South America.

A prizewinner in numerous national and international competitions, Mr. Fullam has premiered works written especially for him and was selected for the American premiere recording of Le Jongleur de Notre Dame. His recordings appear on Naxos, Pro Arte, and MarkMasters, and he has been featured on radio and television in the United States and abroad.

He has held principal and associate principal clarinet positions with several major orchestras, including the Caracas Philharmonic, Utah Symphony, Boston Philharmonic, and National Orchestral Association, where he performed the Copland Clarinet Concerto under the composer's direction.

In addition to his performing career, Mr. Fullam has served on the faculties of the Eastman School of Music, the University of Utah, and the Boston Conservatory, where he was also Director of Chamber Music.
