Karen Romig

  • Summa cum laude Graduate of Flute Performance from Chapman University

  • Studied with Arthur Hoberman

  • Flutist with the Venice Symphony Orchestra

Franklyn Noll Skidmore

  • Clarinetist and award-winning opera singer and voice teacher

  • Has appeared at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Le Cirque Royal in Brussels 

  • 2023 Recipient of Career Achievement in Music Award from Converse University

  • Winner of the Metropolitan Opera Regional Auditions, The Liederkranz Opera Award, The National Arts Club Award, and recognition by the Poulenc Foundation in Paris

  • Performed and taught in Sarasota for 23 years, including outreach with Sarasota Opera

  • Studied with Carolina Segura, Guido DeNuzio of the Met, Benjamin Rawitz at La Monnaie Opera House in Brussels

Jim Hill, Librarian

  • Enlisted and served 20 years in the United States Marine Corps as a Marine Field Musician

  • Studied at the Armed Forces School of Music in Little Creek, Virginia

  • Worked 20 years and retired as an IT consultant for SC Johnson in Racine, Wisconsin.

  • Performed with the Milwaukee Festival Brass, the Knight Wind Ensemble, and other local groups throughout Wisconsin

  • Longtime Manatee County music educator, including band director at Lakewood Ranch High

  • Outstanding teacher and percussionist 

  • Director Sarasota's Suncoast Jazz Ambassadors

  • A true gentleman

  • Performed with the Strauss Symphony of America for 25 years.
